The little things were big for me. Every little thing I did gave me skills or opportunities – for jobs, friends, whatever. All of those programs (music classes, gardening, sewing) have helped a lot with getting confidence and getting jobs.

Our community engagement team creates opportunities for children and adults to connect with each other. Our team organises a range of social, recreational and educational activities for children and adults. Available events and activities might include:
- Swimming classes
- Women’s group
- Excursions such as walking tours, bushwalking, museum and gallery visits
- Drama and storytelling workshops
- Sports activities
- LGBTIQ+ support
- School holiday activities

Responding to feedback about community activities
At the start of 2022, we asked the valued members of the Asylum Seekers Centre community for their thoughts on our activities and programs. More than 230 people gave feedback in an online survey and focus groups. Here’s how we responded.
