The Asylum Seekers Centre is here to help you settle in Sydney and answer your questions.

Our team of Everyday Support Volunteers can provide you help via phone on 02 9078 1900.

You can also come by Newtown or Auburn to our Support Desk for in person questions and requests:

Monday to Wednesday from 10 AM to 4 PM (Newtown)
Thursday to Friday from 10 AM to 2 PM (Newtown)

Wednesdays from 10 AM to 12 PM (Auburn)

They can help you with:

  • Applying for a concession Opal card for public transport
  • Help with Medicare applications
  • Applying for an Immicard
  • Getting a TFN (tax file number)
  • Referrals for legal advice
  • Phone or Opal card top-ups (based on eligibility criteria) for people involved in ASC programs
  • Assistance in Energy Account Payment Assistance vouchers (EAPA)
  • Visa health checks…. and many other everyday supports.
