Recently as I was helping a young man with a printing problem, I asked him why he needed the printing. He said there’d been a massacre in his village back home – the second in less than a year. He needed to provide evidence of why it was not safe to return. He mentioned he didn’t have a computer, so I arranged for him to get a donated laptop.
Give the gift of digital connection
“If I could speak to those who donated this laptop, I would thank them for their generosity and kindness, which have made a significant impact on my life. Their donation has not only provided me with a crucial tool for my education but also given me the confidence and motivation to succeed in my studies…
I am committed to making the most of this gift.”
Last FY23-24, the Asylum Seekers Centre distributed 491 devices to help people seeking asylum survive and thrive.
People seeking asylum in Sydney don’t receive government income support, and many face huge barriers in accessing essential technology like mobile phones and computers.
Your generous gift can help someone study, search for a job, stay in touch with their loved ones, as well as navigate the complex government systems and services they rely on.
